Grants awarded by Neil Hudgell Solicitors Trust
This group, based in Beverley, distributes donated toys to children (0-18) in the Yorkshire area who suffer as a result of poverty, disability or illness. The toys are collected in local supermarkets and then distributed by Mr Hoggle Doggle via social services, women’s groups, charities and other organisations. Since its foundation in 2011 by David and Clare Allan, the group has distributed over 17,000 toys to disadvantaged children and has seen an increase in donated goods. This has resulted in the group having to rent a storeroom which has significantly increased Mr Hoggle Doggle’s running costs.
A grant of £1,000 from The Neil Hudgell Solicitors Trust will contribute to these annual running costs which include: store, rent, electricity, publicity and web costs, insurance, batteries for toys, stationary and shelving units.
David Allan said: “The charity has taken off like a rocket. It’s such a simple idea – giving toys to children who otherwise wouldn’t get anything – and people have really responded. The funding from Neil Hudgell Solicitors will help us expand to meet the growing demand and to cope with the increasing numbers of toys which are being donated to us.”
