The Hulls Angels Roller Dames (HARD) is an all-women’s flat-track roller derby league in the north of England.
The Neil Hudgell Solicitors funding will enable the organisation to purchase new equipment with a view to holding an open day and running taster sessions to get new women involved in the sport.
Beneficiaries will be women from the Hull and East Riding area. The club currently has approximately 50 members.

When asked for words to describe the recruitment day:
Fun, informative, awesome, exciting, interesting, great, challenging, amazing, wobbly!, refreshing, super, sweaty, friendly.
When asked for a quote about their overall experience:
“Had an amazing time and looking forward to continuing with it.”
“Gave a complete novice confidence and it’s a good starter before joining to prevent first time nervous beginners.”
“I loved every minute of it and can’t wait to get better and join the team.”
“The Angels are so friendly and patient considering i was worse than a new born deer.”
“It was an enjoyable experience that I think in the long run will help me achieve some of my fitness goals.”
“I have lots of confidence issues so I never really looked at joining anything like this before. The open day was great, as I was able to prove to myself that I could try omething new. It’s put me back in touch with old friends as well as making new ones.”
“Just having the opportunity to get involved was great. If I hadn’t come along I would probably be working or writing, but nothing with exercise involved.”
“Knowing it was a taster day really helped. I knew I could just have a look and if I didn’t feel comfortable I didn’t have to commit. The day was brilliant! Everyone was helpful and friendly.I feel happier, more confident and lots fitter!”
