Hull Women's Centre
Grants awarded by Neil Hudgell Solicitors Trust
With a grant of £1,000 from the Trust, this organisation will provide free English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) tuition for women. The course will run for two hours per week, for eight weeks with free crèche spaces for children under five.
The group will be targeted at BME (Black, Minority, and Ethnic) women who suffer isolation and exclusion as a result of their low levels of competency in the use of English. For cultural reasons this women-only environment will make the course more accessible to the target group.
It is planned that between eight and 12 women residing in Hull will complete the full course and each week up to eight children will use the crèche facilities.
The funding from The Neil Hudgell Trust will go towards covering the costs of learning materials, tutor costs and crèche costs.
