At Hudgell Solicitors, our clients are at the heart of everything we do – and this all starts with guiding you step-by-step through the claims process.
You may feel vulnerable when you first make contact and find the whole process of making a claim overwhelming, so our team of trained legal experts will sensitively help you feel reassured and informed every step of the way.
Here is our seven-step guide to the claims process:
Step 1 – Use Our Website
From our experience, we understand that making that first step to claim is often the most difficult and so reading the different sections relating to your type of claim can provide that first step to feel ready to progress in the process.
As well as the informative sections for all the services we offer, there is a useful news section containing previous client stories and a Q&A section to answer any of the frequently asked questions people may have, as well as background information on who we are and our years of expertise in righting wrongs and helping people.
Step 2 – Make contact
When you feel ready to make that first contact, you can get in touch with Hudgell Solicitors in a variety of different ways.
You can call, email, live chat, drop in to one of our offices or request a call back at a time that suits you with one of our legally trained advisers.
We will do all we can to take away the hassle of making a claim which may be worrying you and strive to ensure that when you make contact with us you feel listened to and valued.
At the core of the service provided is a promise to:
- Arrange a first meeting within 24 hours, where the nature of the case requires a face-to-face visit and you are happy for us to do so;
- Return phone calls or emails the very same day (during business hours, which have recently been extended to 8am-8pm);
- Reply to any letter you send us within two days;
- Write to you regularly with any updates or information on your case.
Step 3 – Discuss All The Facts
While we are not able to assist in all instances, we have developed a culture where our team strives to deliver a service even when we can’t help those calling, signposting you to a firm that can help or to charities, citizens advice or the law society.
If we can help, one of our solicitors will discuss all the facts relating to your case and how it has affected you, providing clear and uncomplicated advice.
We will gather evidence and do all we can to assess the strength of your case, while giving you the chance to ask questions along the way.
Hudgell Solicitors has a 4.8 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot, with the theme of the feedback and reviews we receive stressing how much clients valued having regular communication every step of the process from a “highly professional team showing great empathy”.
Step 4 – Submit Your Claim
We will submit your claim by formally notifying the person or organisation that was to blame for causing your injury.
They must respond within a fixed time, stating whether they accept or deny responsibility.
Step 5 – Attend A Medical Examination
If they accept responsibility you will be asked to attend a medical examination with a local, independent expert to help us work out how much the claim may be worth.
Your solicitor will arrange all of this for you.
Step 6 – Claim Proceeds
Your claims proceeds will be presented to you by your solicitor and they will advise you on whether or not it is a fair offer.
It is up to you whether or not you accept this offer of compensation and most cases are settled without having to go to court.
Step 7 – Claim Is Settled
When your claim is settled, you will receive the compensation deserved for the injury you have suffered.
At Hudgell Solicitors, we are committed to fighting for the people who need us the most, not those who can pay the most and the majority of cases we handle are funded by no win no fee agreements.
This means that if you win, you will have to pay some costs which will have been discussed with you when you first made your claim with us. But if you lose there will be nothing to pay at all.
