Expertise and key strengths
I have experience of handling cases across all clinical negligence areas including dental negligence. Most notably I have handled a number of cases involving a delay in diagnosing and treating sepsis and I am involved in raising awareness around recognising and treating sepsis early. I also have in-depth knowledge around the working of our mental health system (from my MA dissertation) and how we treat people who lack capacity and / or have psychiatric disability. From this I am passionate about using the law to help and protect those most vulnerable in our society. More academically, I am also very interested in public health and the links between law and public health.
I completed a degree in sociology and political philosophy (Scholarship to Manchester University) and following a career in the health care sector I decided on a career change after the birth of my son and studied law, completing the GDL and LPC at the College of Law, London (now University of Law).
I then trained at Anthony Gold at London Bridge and always knew that I wanted to do clinical negligence to make the most of my medical knowledge. I qualified 2011. I then gained further experience with another firm before joining Hudgell Solicitors as a clinical negligence solicitor in 2015.
Proudest professional achievement
I don’t really have a single one. For me, it’s rewarding and a privilege to help clients find answers to what happened to them and what went wrong. For cases involving children, it can be vital for parents to know and be reassured that it was nothing that they did that led to the injuries or harm caused to their child.
Sue is excellent and a credit to your organisation.
I just want to thank you personally, as you were honest and got things done…
I would recommend Hudgell Solicitors and their excellent service, my solicitor Sue Jackson was very professional but friendly and I felt at such ease with her, I would use again.
