Expertise and key strengths
I always enjoy a challenge and there is no greater satisfaction than achieving compensation for a client on a case that wouldn’t be automatically appealing to other solicitors. I pride myself on tenacity and digging a little bit deeper than is usually required to gain the best possible outcome for my clients.
I studied Law at Sheffield Hallam University and went on to work for Graysons Solicitors in Sheffield as a fee earner. I studied for my LPC part time while continuing to work. I then came back to Hull and qualified as a solicitor in 2010. I joined the personal injury department at Hudgell Solicitors in October 2014.
Proudest professional achievement
I recently settled a very unusual case in which a client was attacked by a cow. She was out walking on a public pathway and they walked through a field which had cows and calves in it. One of the cows attacked her dog before attacking her and her partner. Liability was denied, so we took it to almost as far as the trial date when the defendant finally admitted liability. Cases involving animals attacking are particularly difficult to prove. We had to secure reports from various medical experts to prove the extent of her injuries, as she suffered severe chest trauma. This resulted in the lady being unable to work as she needed surgery and was unable to hold down a job. The case settled for a six-figure sum.
Sarah was nothing short of excellent.
