Rebecca has been working in legal claims since 2011 and joined Hudgell Solicitors in 2014. Rebecca also represents people who suffer injury due to unsafe environments and surfaces, and those injured at work.
I enjoy helping people in what often be a really difficult situation and time. I try to make sure what can be a complex process is as easy as possible for my clients, and I do this by placing a focus on ensuring they understand all they need to be aware of as the case progresses. I try to make sure they are not confused or worried by the legal elements.
I enjoy getting a good result when it wasn’t expected, as it really shows the value of our expertise for people and can make such a positive difference to them.
I secured a five-figure damages settlement for a teenager who was injured when she was thrown from her motorcycle after a farmer left a country road covered in mud.
The girl broke her collarbone, which required surgery, and suffered severe concussion, as well as cuts and bruises.
I alleged the farmer caused or permitted the highway to be left in a dangerous, defective condition by failing to remove the mud, causing injury, loss and damage. It was an interesting case as some work was required to establish who was liable for the road’s poor condition at that time.
I was also successful with a case where a client suffered and accident at work as they tripped over a bed in a boarding room at a college and suffered an injury. Again, it wasn’t an easy case to pursue, but it was clear to me that the accident could and should have been avoided. The room where my client was injured was meant for one bed, but another had been put in there as an event was being staged at the college, making it difficult to negotiate. I was keen to ensure that my client was compensated for the injuries suffered as had the room been as it should be, the accident would have been avoided.
