Lucy has worked in the holiday accident claims sector since 2012 and joined Hudgell Solicitors’ travel litigation team in 2019.
Lucy specialises in supporting clients who have been injured on planes and transfer coaches, experienced group holiday sickness or been involved in accidents at their hotel or holiday accommodation as well as those involved in road traffic accidents abroad.
Career Highlights
I recently acted for a client who contracted Salmonella while on holiday in Turkey. Not only did the illness ruin the trip she had saved all year for, but her ongoing gastric illness problems resulted in time off work and financial difficulties when she returned home.
It was a proud moment when I told her that we had secured the compensation she deserved.
In another case, I supported a woman who was injured when a glass duty-free bottle of spirits fell from an overhead locker of a plane and hit her on the head.
My client was onboard a British Airways flight from Gatwick to Jamaica and described being in “excruciating pain” after the incident which caused continuous bleeding from the head wound.
I helped my client step by step through her claim against the airline and British Airways admitted full liability for the accident and the case was settled without the need to issue court proceedings.
My client was awarded a four-figure compensation award and I was honoured when she thanked me for my “outstanding handling” of her claim.
