Get to Know Laura
Laura represents clients who have suffered criminal injuries through no fault of their own and handles cases relating to assaults, domestic violence and sexual assault.
Laura joined Hudgell Solicitors’ CICA team in 2021 and has helped secure her clients significant awards from the Criminal Injury Compensation Authority. She also has experience of representing clients who have been injured as a result of acid and machete attacks.
Laura fully appreciates that criminal injuries can be successfully awarded even if those responsible for criminal attacks are never caught or even identified. She can also advise clients on how it’s never too late to make a CICA claim to help get their lives back on track.
Career Highlights
Having supported clients who have experienced domestic violence, I appreciate how many of them had to flee and start their lives over again. That’s why the criminal injuries compensation awards I help them with are so important, because they help rebuild lives.
Another of my clients was the victim of a horrendous sexual assault when on a night out with a friend. Even though there was not enough evidence to take the matter to court we helped her secure compensation, an importantly, she found the criminal injuries process to be positive and empowering.

I’ve run the Hull 10K to fundraise for Hull Women’s Aid and I also play for my local ice hockey team.
