Personal Injury Catastrophic Injury Spinal Cord Injury Brain Injury Amputation Claims

Kent is a senior solicitor with more than 30 years of industry experience. He is a specialist in handling catastrophic injury and high-value claims, including ground-breaking multi-million pound pay-outs.

Kent is known in the market for his pioneering casework, including successfully obtaining the first multi-million pound pay-out, which for a considerable number of years was the highest ever award of damages for compensation. He is adept at coordinating the support of physiotherapists, medical specialists, dietitians and counsellors so that rehabilitation packages can come together in a practical manner to the benefit of the client.

People I support have often suffered major life-changing injuries and although we cannot undo what has happened, we can make a really positive impact on the rest of their lives, and on the lives on those who love and support them day to day. Claims cases in such circumstances are never only about the money, as multi-million pound settlements are awarded to reflect not just the loss, but also cover the cost of providing a lifetime of care and support. Helping people rebuild their lives, and rediscover some form of normality and positivity from the toughest of situations, is what motivates me in what are often complex, difficult and challenging legal cases.

Significant Cases

I’ve dealt with many multi-million pound cases, including claims following paediatric surgery at the Royal Bristol Infirmary, which was the subject of the Bristol Heart Baby Inquiry.

I acted for man who was awarded £9.3m damages after being involved in a road traffic accident which left him tetraplegic. When the case settled at trial it was at that time the highest ever award of damages for compensation by some considerable distance. My client had just graduated from university when the accident happened.

I was also very proud to secure £2.4m interim damages to a severely disabled 12-year-old claimant, which enabled her family to find suitable and much needed new accommodation, at a time when uncertainty in the law relating to this kind of issue was very difficult. The girl’s family said it was ‘life-changing’.
