I feel my strength lies in my communication with my clients as I always aim to ensure the legal process is as straighforward as possible. I also work hard to ensure the legal process runs smoothly, even in challenging cases.

Get to Know Gemma

Gemma has been part of the Hudgell Solicitors team since 2010 and now manages our New Claims Team members, who are often the first legal professional our clients will speak to.

Over the many years Gemma has been with the firm she has dealt with a variety of medical negligence cases including delayed diagnosis and misdiagnosis of cancer, surgical errors, sepsis claims, misdiagnosis of conditions resulting in fatalities, dental negligence and care home abuse and neglect.

Having started her career at Hudgell Solicitors as a legal secretary Gemma became a Litigation Executive managing her own cases and supporting  senior solicitors with more complex clinical negligence cases.

Career Highlights

I secured substantial damages for the family of a 72-year-old man who died after developing sepsis which was missed by hospital doctors. This was obviously a sad case and in situations like this, no amount of money will ever make up for such a devastating loss of a loved one.

However, as part of the case I was able to demonstrate clear failings in processes which meant swab tests were not checked. If they had, appropriate action would likely have been taken and his death could have been prevented.

In cases such as this I feel our role is crucial in ensuring such mistakes are fully investigated, and lessons learned to improve future treatment and care.
