PUBLIC awareness of the asbestos related cancer Mesothelioma is being raised by a new storyline in the popular ITV television programme Emmerdale, with a relatively young character Donna Windsor last night revealing she is terminally ill with the condition.
The story has quickly caused a stir amongst concerned viewers, with the cancer being one of the most searched for items on the internet soon after the programme was aired.
Action Mesothelioma Day is 6 July 2012. The annual event raises awareness about the asbestos induced cancer and is an opportunity to remember the victims of the incurable disease.
Sadly each year Mesothelioma claims more lives and this trend is set to continue for several years before a controlled fall in the numbers those being diagnosed with the illness can be expected.
PLEASE NOTE: Neil Hudgell Solicitors no longer deal with this type of claim. This is an historic blog article to be used for reference only.
This year, victims, their families and those who campaign by their side will again unite in highlighting the issues which affect mesothelioma sufferers, issues such as raising funds for research into the illness, care for those affected by it and the pursuit of justice against those who exposed their workers and their families to asbestos.
Asbestos victim support groups up and down the country are also holding events to mark Action Mesothelioma Day and members of our asbestos compensation team will be attending some of those events to show their support for the victims of mesothelioma and all those who suffer from asbestos disease.
We’ll be updating our website after Action Mesothelioma Day and reporting upon the day’s events.
