Hudgell Solicitors’ chief executive Amanda Stevens has received further national recognition for her expertise as she has been named 2019 Catastrophic Personal Injury Claims Lawyer of the Year in England, as part of a global awards scheme.
The Corporate Intl Magazine Global Awards commemorates the achievements of those who have been successful over the past 12 months and in particular those who have ‘shown excellence not only in expertise but in service.’
The awards have been running since 2008 to promote leading firms in their chosen specialisms throughout the world.
Winners represent a diverse cross section of lawyers and law firms, as well as a large array of other industry experts and consultants across Europe, Americas, Asia and Oceania, Africa and the Middle East.
They are chosen following detailed research by independent teams, recognising ‘the most active and experienced advisers from around the world’, from ‘tens of thousands’ of candidates.
Mrs Stevens heads the day to day operations of Hudgell Solicitors in her role as chief executive, working closely with managing director Neil Hudgell.
She has led the firm through a transitional period over the past 18 months which has seen it build new and successful areas of work including civil liberties, travel, abuse and inquest representation, alongside its traditional focus of personal injury and medical negligence.
The firm has also recently expanded into the North West with the opening of a new Manchester base, adding to offices in London, Leeds and Hull.
Mrs Stevens said: “It is always pleasing to be recognised for the work you are doing, but particularly so given this award relates to our work in helping people who have sadly suffered catastrophic, life-changing injuries.
“Ensuring such people are provided with the very best and most beneficial rehabilitation at the earliest possible stage after suffering a serious injury, and throughout their entire recovery, is something I have always been passionate about and 100 per cent committed to.
“It dates back to my time working as a hospital manager and continues to be what drives me today. It is why we at Hudgell Solicitors are becoming increasingly recognised for this essential element of personal injury legal support.
“I am very proud of our work in this area, and for our success as a firm leading to me being selected for this award. It is an award which reflects the firm’s overall dedication to client care.”
Law reforms and campaigns led to better improve support for injured people
An experienced specialist in claims involving more complex injury cases where injuries have been severe or long-lasting, such as acquired brain and spinal cord injury for both adults and children, Mrs Stevens already has an industry wide reputation for going above and beyond for her clients, including seeking law reform in matters which have deeply affected lives.
A long track record in leading on campaigns for law reform has seen her sit as Chair of the Project Steering Group overseeing the publication of the much revised 2015 Rehabilitation Code and she sits on the Serious Injury Guide Working Group, responsible for a voluntary but nationally acclaimed process for speeding up the handling of the most serious injury claims alongside enhanced rehabilitation offerings.
She also holds many memberships and appointments with industry bodies, such as the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (where she was previously President).
Her outstanding reputation and focus on rehabilitation has seen her recognised previously for her achievements, as she was awarded the ‘Outstanding Individual Achievement Award’ at the 2016 Rehabilitation First Awards.
