Hudgell Solicitors are to ask the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to reopen an investigation into the death of a father who died after being attacked on a night out.

Riccardo Holness, 42 was hit by a ‘punch at explosive speed’ when attacked by Thomas Spicer outside a nightclub in Beckenham High Street, on October 17, 2021, an Inquest heard.

Assistant coroner Edmund Gritt recorded a conclusion of unlawful killing, saying the punch had been ‘delivered with full force’ and was ‘deliberate, unreasonable and unlawful’.

He had ‘ran at Riccardo at speed’, using a ‘small jump, pushing off his body weight’ to make the punch, when Mr Holness was not looking his way at the time, leaving him with no opportunity to defend himself, the Inquest heard.

Hudgell Solicitors, who represent Mr Holness’ family, have now called for the CPS to reopen its investigation.

Mr Spicer, who was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm at the time, has never been charged with any offences.
