Senior solicitor Samuel McFadyen has won further industry recognition for continually demonstrating his dedication and ability to ensure catastrophically injured people are given the very best support.
Mr McFadyen has been named as a shortlisted finalist in the national 2019 Personal Injury Awards, in the category of ‘Catastrophic Injury Lawyer of the Year’.
It is the second year in succession that Mr McFadyen has been recognised at leading national legal awards events.
This shortlisting follows similar recognition in 2018, when he was a finalist in the ‘Unsung Claims Hero of the Year Award’ at The Claims Awards 2018 in recognition of the hugely influential role he has in ensuring his clients benefit from the very best rehabilitation support at all times.
The Personal Injury Awards, now in their 12th year, highlight and celebrate the excellence of personal injury solicitors and organisations across the personal injury sector.

Claims have secured multi-million pound damages and funds for new homes
Over the past 12 months Mr McFadyen secured a £7.5m lump sum damages settlement, approved in the High Court, for a man left in need of lifelong care after suffering a serious brain injury and brachial plexus injury in a motorbike accident.
The settlement covered the costs for dedicated care professionals to support him and his family for the rest of his life, enabling him to move into his own home and live as independently as possible. It has brought peace of mind for the man’s parents, as they now know he’ll have all the help and support he needs for the rest of his life.
He is also currently supporting Angela Menzies, of West Yorkshire, who suffered extensive multiple orthopaedic fractures, and injured many major internal organs, in a high speed head on car crash three years ago.
She suffered compound fractures to both legs, fractured both her knees and hips and broke nine ribs, also fracturing her pelvis, sternum, right clavicle, toes on her right foot, puncturing her lung and suffering a stomach injury as her seat belt caused tissue damage, requiring stapling.
However, after many operations she is now beginning to enjoy her independence again, thanks to a complete package of support provided through Mr McFadyen’s leadership of her claim.
He secured an early agreement from insurers to fully fund all rehabilitation costs, appoint a specialist Case Manager and provide an extensive package of physical, psychological and financial support, before liability for causing the injuries had been admitted.
Earlier this year he was able to obtain an agreement to a further £200,000 interim payment, enabling Angela and her husband to purchase a bungalow which has been extensively adapted to bring her full independence, as she is now able to wash independently and cook when alone at home for the first time.
Angela is now building up her walking distance unaided during her physiotherapy sessions, and is driving alone again.

Another case of significance led by Mr McFadyen has seen him ensure a complete package of rehabilitation support to 54-year-old Svilen Mihov, who was left paralysed after being injured as a mini bus passenger in a motorway crash in October 2018.
Funding has been secured to allow for the instruction of a specialist Spinal Injury Case Manager with a multi disciplinary rehab team which has helped Mr Mihov be well and strong enough to fulfil his dream of being able to fly back home to Bulgaria and give his daughter away at her wedding in August 2019.
In addition new rental accommodation was also sourced and secured for Mr Mihov and his family, moving them from an unsuitable flat to a new dormer bungalow, which has also been specially adapted to ensure there is more space to accommodate his wheelchair and provide space for his family and rehabilitation team.
The Personal Injury Awards will be held at the Hilton Deansgate, Manchester, on November 27th, 2019.
