Hull Women’s Aid is a charity close to our hearts and Hudgell Solicitors are ‘made-up’ this Christmas with the efforts of our staff who have raised £500 for Hull Women’s Aid in December.
Staff from the charity came to our office in the run up to Christmas to receive the cheque along with donations of toys and gifts.
Hudgell Solicitors is proud to have chosen this local organisation as a charity of choice for 2022 for the work it does in the local community helping to change lives for the better.
Hudgell solicitor Michelle Maltby hand-crafted Christmas cards and tote bags over the festive season to raise £500 for the charity and bring some festive cheer to the office, with her designs raising hundreds of pounds but efforts don’t stop there. Last month, staff arranged a collection of essential items for families staying at the refugee and filled three car loads of perishable foods, clothing, toiletries and toys. It has been a real team effort.
Hull Women’s Aid is the sole provider of safe and secure refuge accommodation on the north bank of the Humber for women and children fleeing domestic abuse.
Over last 12 months the charity has received almost 800 referrals for support and has accommodated 54 families in the refuge, with 98% saying they now felt safer.
Almost 500 women accessed the live chat facility, which was set up during the pandemic to help with difficult domestic situations.
Hull Women’s Aid relies heavily on fundraising to keep their often lifesaving services running. Funds help provide safe accommodation, mobile phones, food, clothing and safety planning.
Michelle Donnelly Chief Executive Officer Hull Women’s Aid said the funds would make a real difference as £150 can provide a week’s safe accommodation, £10 can buy a wellbeing pack for a woman, £15 can buy a child a birthday gift and £30 can buy a moving on hamper for a family.
