Hudgell Solicitors has promoted six more members of its legal teams to ‘Associate’ roles following a year of record business growth.
The six colleagues have been instrumental in supporting senior managers in the successful delivery of a strategy to expand the firm’s opportunities and deliver excellent client care across all departments.
Chief Executive Rachel Di Clemente said the new associates had provided outstanding support to their colleagues, shown themselves to be potential future leaders and made the most of training and development opportunities within the company.
It’s with great pleasure and pride that we see six of our colleagues progress in their careers.
Some have been with us for many years while others have only recently joined; all have shown a commitment to our values of being fiercely committed to our clients, never intimidated by the challenges we face, as well as being refreshingly down to earth.
They have proven to be role models, and we are proud to support their development as an acknowledgment of their ambition and commitment to our business. I hope they now feel empowered to reach for the next stage of their careers.
They have all been rewarded for their significant achievements within the firm and their desire to learn, lead and improve outcomes for our clients.
The six new associates based in Hull and Manchester are: Adam Biglin, Shauna Page, Ronke Bain, Laura Rowan, Kathryn White, and Joanne Banks.
Mrs Di Clemente says Associates perform an important role in assisting the business to achieve its strategic goals.
Meet our new Associates:
Adam Biglin, Civil Liberties
Adam is a solicitor in our Civil Liberties team and assists on complex cases involving compensation claims for malicious prosecution of Sub-Postmasters, stemming from the Post Office Horizon IT software errors. He has helped ensure victims achieve justice and receive fair compensation.
Adam qualified as a Solicitor in 2020 and has also assisted and supported families at Inquests, where a loved one has lost their life while in the care of the state. He has also led actions against the police involving police assault, unlawful arrest and infringements of human rights.
Shauna Page, Medical Negligence
Shauna is a senior solicitor and has specialised in medical negligence since qualifying in 2013. Her cases include complex issues involving delayed diagnosis and misdiagnosis of conditions and illnesses, surgical errors in hospitals, birth injury and GP negligence.
I am delighted to have achieved recognition as an Associate Solicitor. This is not only a recognition of my hard work and dedication to such an amazing firm, but also Hudgells dedication to its staff in offering fantastic opportunities for career progression.
Hudgells recognises and appreciates different abilities in its employees. We are seen as individuals with different skills, and these are encouraged through career progression to ensure we fit the right role.
The opportunities here to develop outside of the traditional lawyer role, and the work we do for charity, makes me very proud to be part of Hudgells.
Ronke Bain, Medical Negligence
Ronke is an experienced Chartered Legal Executive who has worked in the specialised field of clinical negligence since 2016.
Ronke manages a range of cases, involving both adults and children, including those relating to gynaecology, urology and obstetrics care, failures in GP care, delays in cancer diagnosis and other conditions.
Achieving recognition as an Associate is an incredible milestone for me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow in my career and for the faith Hudgells have shown in my abilities.
Hudgells have actively supported my professional growth by providing me with valuable opportunities and by creating an inclusive culture where diversity is celebrated, and it recognises the importance of creating a supportive space for everyone.
Laura Rowan, Serious Injury
Laura specialises in serious and catastrophic personal injury claims, often representing clients who have experienced an amputation or a significant brain injury in an accident.
Laura has worked as a Chartered Legal Executive for almost two decades and joined Hudgell Solicitors in 2022 where she works solely on high-value serious injury cases and is skilled in managing complex rehabilitation packages.
I am absolutely delighted to have been promoted. Hudgells’ values really resonate with me.
Since joining I have worked on complex and high value cases alongside some of the most experienced Solicitors who have shared their wealth of knowledge and experience with me.
Hudgells recognises colleagues’ experience and dedication – not just their qualifications, it’s really refreshing to see.
Kathryn White, Medical Negligence
Kathryn has almost two decades of experience working in the field of medical negligence claims. She joined Hudgell Solicitors in 2022 to assist our Joint Heads of Clinical Negligence Chris Moore and Vince Shore with complex, high-value claims.
Kathryn uses her expertise on cases related to stroke misdiagnosis, delayed treatment, surgical errors, the mismanagement of sepsis, amputations, issues of consent and cerebral palsy cases.
Previously, Kathryn represented healthcare providers in civil litigation cases which has given her greater insight into what is required for her clients to best succeed and achieve maximum outcomes.
I’ve worked hard since joining Hudgells to deliver quality work for our clients and I’m very happy with my promotion to Associate.
My managers have encouraged me to take on more challenging work since I started which has helped me progress quickly, and colleagues have helped me learn. It’s a very supportive environment at Hudgells.
Everyone in the team demonstrates the core values and my managers have been incredibly supportive. I know what’s required to progress and there is support to achieve it.
Joanne Banks, Medical Negligence
Joanne has worked exclusively as a clinical negligence solicitor since qualifying in 2011.
She has in-depth experience with claims involving GP negligence, A&E treatment, surgical errors, delays in diagnosis and medical negligence involving children. Previously she worked for other notable legal firms in the Northwest.
I’m thrilled to have been promoted, and I am incredibly proud to be part of such a wonderful firm.
I am relatively new to the firm, however since day one I have been encouraged and supported in developing my career.
What is refreshing about Hudgells is that they acknowledge that not everyone has the same career goals or wants to follow the traditional legal pathway to management or partnership.
I am incredibly grateful for the support I have received and look forward to being part of the progression of the firm.
Employee Ownership
Recently, the firm marked a year of being employee-owned by establishing a new ‘forum’ of team members to represent colleagues and generate ideas to drive the business forward.
Hudgell Solicitors was also named in the Times Best 250 Law Firms list for the fifth consecutive year with its work in cases relating to human rights, personal injury, and clinical negligence commended.
Mrs Di Clemente said:
Since our transition to employee ownership in 2023, it has been fantastic to see some of our senior team stepping up to ensure the future success of their business.
We strive to allow colleagues to succeed by embracing and celebrating their individual strengths, alongside ensuring that everyone at our firm has a shared vision of the future of our business.
