Lawyers at Hudgell Solicitors have been hailed for their quality of their work in civil liberties and human rights cases as well as their firms traditional areas of personal injury and medical negligence claims, in the newly published 2022 Legal 500 guide.

Executive chairman and owner Neil Hudgell has been named a ‘leading individual’ nationally in civil liberties and human rights cases, recognition of his work representing victims of the Post Office Horizon Scandal.

The firm has helped former sub-postmasters to have criminal convictions quashed at court, and will now represent them at a Public Inquiry next year, as their legal representatives for the hearing.

Head of Travel Litigation Paul McClorry is again included in the guide as a ‘leading individual’ also, praised for ‘brilliantly leading’ a team which is again included for its work.

Testimonials from clients and legal professionals include;

  • ‘The travel team brings a wide scope of experience and contacts in overseas work, and they have been consistently focused on making sure their clients receive the best results.’
  • ‘An innovative and boutique approach to legal practice. Sensible, commercial and always focused on the issues and on their clients’ needs.
  • ‘Brilliantly led by Paul McClorry, the team has strength and depth. Paul is personable, approachable and has enormous experience. There is nothing that he doesn’t know about cross-border practice.’

The firm’s long-standing personal injury and clinical negligence departments are again included in Yorkshire and the Humber, with heads of departments Chris Moore, Vince Shore and Jane Woodcock specifically named in recognition for their experience and expertise.

Helena Wood is named as a ‘rising star’ in clinical negligence claims.

The guide again highlights the firm’s ability to cover ‘a diverse array of matters’ in clinical negligence, such as surgical errors, misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis, GP negligence and errors in dental work.

On the personal injury side, it highlights the team’s success in handling catastrophic cases and the strong emphasis placed on optimum rehabilitative support.

Exceptional client testimonials include;

  • ‘Chris Moore and Vince Shore both have huge experience of maximum severity and other claims. They are both a pleasure to work with.’
  • ‘The team is great! They are very professional, reliable and transparent. We receive outstanding support.’
  • ‘Hudgell Solicitors are a pleasure to work with. They treat their clients (who can be vulnerable, understandably emotional and challenging in other ways) with care, dignity and respect. They communicate well – I would recommend them as a top claimant-friendly clinical negligence firm outside of London.’

Chief executive Rachel Di Clemente said: “It is really pleasing to see the expertise and experience of our team again recognised by Legal 500, which is of course a publication many leading law firms seek to be included in.

“We are delighted to see our work in civil liberties and human rights recognised – and of course the success Neil has had in the Post Office case – as we have made a huge impact in this area not only over the past 12 months, but over the past three years as we have steadily and strategically built a highly-experienced legal team.

“We once again have many exceptional independent testimonials from others we work alongside in the legal sector, and from our clients who have thanked us for showing empathy, care and dedication to supporting them. That is what we are here to do, so to have that reflected in this important legal guide is truly rewarding and something we are very proud of.”
