In April of this year Neil Hudgell will be running the iconic London Marathon for the first time, raising money for Action against Medical Accidents (AvMa).

Neil has always been a keen runner, but it was only in 2017 that he committed to his first Marathon in New York and soon after took on the Chicago Marathon, raising money for Hull’s Paul For Brain Recovery.

At the time, Paul For Brain Recovery had just opened the doors to its own walk-in support centre, and Paul had some ambitious plans for the charity. Neil agreed to run for the charity alongside it’s founder Paul Spence and together they raised over £5,000.

The London Marathon in April is Neil’s next target, his third marathon, and this time will be running in aid of the charity (AvMa), which fits closely with his life as a lawyer

AvMa plays a crucial role in supporting people affected by avoidable harm in healthcare, campaigning for honest answers when things go wrong, promoting better patient safety and providing vital advice and support.

Over the years Hudgell Solicitors has supported thousands of people who have come to harm as a result of medical negligence experiencing first-hand the crucial role that AvMa plays in ensuring people have the support they need to access justice. Its own helpline took over 2,500 calls last year, supporting families with knowledgeable and impartial advice during difficult times.

You can find out more about how AvMa can help you here, and the great work the charity does to support someone affected by medical negligence in “George’s story”.
