Neil Hudgell Trust pledges support to three children’s charities throughout 2019

Hudgell Solicitors staff have chosen three children’s charities to benefit from the firm’s community support throughout 2019.

Hudgell Solicitors staff have chosen three children’s charities to benefit from the firm’s community support throughout 2019.

The Neil Hudgell Trust will be partnering with Special Stars in Hull, Candlelighters in Leeds, and Coram in London, each of which has received an initial £5,000 donation from the firm to help fund their day-to-day activities.

Chair of the Trust, Jo Hudgell, says money raised from events and initiatives throughout the year by Hudgell Solicitors staff, both within the workplace and externally, will be matched by the Trust over the coming 12 months.

She said: “We are delighted to announce that we will be supporting Special Stars, Candlelighters and Coram as our Charities Of The Year in 2019.

“They each do tremendous work supporting families with children facing very difficult circumstances, and given much of our legal work centres around helping and supporting families with children who need long-term and sometimes lifetime care, we feel these three charities are a perfect fit.

“It is significant that these charities were chosen by our staff, who in their own work often see many young children who desperately need specialist help.

“Staff have already started planning fundraising events and volunteering opportunities across our offices in Hull, Leeds and London, so we are looking forward to a busy 12 months in which we can hopefully raise some much-needed funds.”

Hull-based Special Stars supports just over 900 families affected by disability in Hull and the East Riding, with a focus placed on improving their quality of life and helping support parent carers.

Candlelighters supports families across Yorkshire who have children with cancer, providing support such as helping children find life on a hospital ward easier to investing in a vital research programme into the causes of children’s cancer and potential new treatments.

The charity has supported more than 680 families in Leeds and 320 families in Hull and East Yorkshire who have faced childhood cancer.

Coram is based in London with teams across the capital and in East Anglia and the East Midlands.

It provides support to parents who become overwhelmed by their own problems and struggle to provide the stability their children need, whilst also working to find adoptive families for children in need of loving, permanent homes.

“All three of these charities are providing vital support to families and children when they need it most,” added Ms Hudgell.

“As a firm we see day to day how difficult life can be without the right support, physically, emotionally and financially.

“We want to help each of these charities to continue providing the best care and support possible, further raise the profile of their fantastic work, raise much needed funds and hopefully build new business networks which can help them reach more people.

“We’d urge people to keep an eye on our Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts which will be updating with our efforts, events and achievements throughout the year.”
