Hudgell Solicitors continues support of Bridlington Town with ground sponsorship deal

Hudgell Solicitors is to continue its support of Bridlington Town AFC after agreeing to extend its sponsorship of the club’s Queensgate stadium for a further two seasons.

Hudgell Solicitors is to continue its support of Bridlington Town AFC after agreeing to extend its sponsorship of the club’s Queensgate stadium for a further two seasons.

The business has supported the Northern Counties East Premier League side through various forms of sponsorship agreements since 2010. The new sponsorship deal has been described as a ‘massive help’ for Town by club chairman Pete Smurthwaite.

His team started their 2015/16 new campaign with a 2-0 win over Staveley Miners Welfare last Saturday, and he said he was delighted with the ongoing partnership.

“Hudgell Solicitors have been great supporters of the club since first becoming involved with us back in 2010, and their backing is much appreciated,” he said.

“The money we receive from the ground sponsorship is massive to us in terms of ensuring that we can cover the annual costs of running the club, and remain competitive on the football pitch at this level.

“There are lots of costs for the club to meet, from the maintenance of the stadium and floodlights to travel costs for the team, expenses for players and things like paying referees.

“I have always been committed to having a competitive team, but it is important that we generate enough income to ensure the club breaks even. That is how we run the club as a business, and that is only possible with the ongoing support of local companies.”

Having initially sponsored both the ground and official playing shirt in 2010, Hudgell Solicitors continued to support The Seasiders as ground sponsors only from 2013/14 onwards, allowing Town to bring in added revenue through securing an extra main sponsor of the playing strip.

That sponsorship continues to come from Humberside Excavations Limited, and in a move to further integrate the club into the local community, Mr Smurthwaite recently announced that children under the age of 12 can buy their Bridlington replica shirt for just £15 this season, entitling them to free admission to all home games when wearing their colours.

“We know Hudgell Solicitors is a company which works very hard on playing a positive role in the local community, and in bringing people together, often through its involvement in local sport,” said Mr Smurthwaite.

“I came up with this idea as when I travel around Bridlington on a weekend, I never see any children wearing a Bridlington Town football shirt, and that is something I want to change. We want young people to see the club as a focal point in the town.”

Neil Hudgell, managing director of Hudgell Solicitors, said: “We are delighted to be extending our support of Bridlington Town for the next two years through naming the ground the Hudgell Solicitors Stadium.

“The club is an integral part of the local community and a family club which is well respected by others in the game for the way in which it is run. We of course wish them every success for the season ahead.”
