Hull’s only powerchair football club are to host the second round of the North East Regional League on Sunday 20 November at Haltemprice Leisure Centre.

The North East Regional League sponsored by Clark & Partners is a competitive league consisting of two divisions Premiership and Championship. A number of clubs from the North East region all meet on dates throughout the season to compete against each other.

This year marks the league’s third consecutive season with East Riding Electric Eels having won the league in debut year 2014 for the division.

East Riding Electric Eels are asking the public to once again come and support Hull’s and East Riding of Yorkshire’s one powerchair football club.

Captain of East Riding Electric Eels Kai Gill, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for the public to come and watch powerchair football. In previous years, we have had a number of people come and watch us, and it’s given the players a big confidence boost.”

The first match kicks off at 10am were both Eels teams play local rivals Leeds Powerchair Football Club. The event is FREE for spectators to come and support Hull’s own powerchair football stars. On the day, Electric Eels will be having a raffle to raise funds for the club to maintain vital playing equipment.

Earlier this year, Hudgell Solicitors agreed to continue to sponsor the East Riding Electric Eels and have provided funding for new equipment, including six new footballs and hoodies for the team.

Simon Wilson, Head of Marketing at Hudgell Solicitors said, “The Electric Eels team has grown considerably since they formed in 2013, increasing its membership so that more disabled people in the Hull area can get involved in sports activity. We’re delighted to be able to support the team and hope that the new equipment will help towards a good start to the new season.”
