Autumn’s Fundraising Activities

It’s been a positive few months for Hudgell Solicitors in the Community. Our staff have been busy raising funds for charity partners The Hull Homeless Project and Simon On The Streets and have raised over £1,000 in September alone

It’s been a positive few months for Hudgell Solicitors in the Community. Our staff have been busy raising funds for charity partners The Hull Homeless Project and Simon On The Streets and have raised over £1,000 in September alone

In addition, we are proudly supporting two new community projects, Womens London Mission Money Champions program and Hull Homeless Arts project, through small grants, fundraising and Hudgell Staff volunteering sessions.

Hull Marathon and Hull Homeless Community Project

Representing the Hull office, team members Helen Saunders, Andrew Petherbridge, Karl Griffin and Gemma Bontoft successfully completed the 26-mile relay race and raised an impressive £600 for the Hull Homeless Community Project.

Sleep With Simon

Leeds Staff Michelle Nurse, Stacey Flegg, Tracy Chapman and Danielle Gaylard braved the elements and spent a chilly buy dry September evening sleeping rough alongside other big-hearted businesses people in the West Yorkshire Area for Simon On The Streets

Michelle Nurse Comments

‘The thought of having no other option but to sleep rough every night would be incredible difficult. This is the third consecutive year that The Hudgell Leeds Office have supported this event. Sleep With Simon is a wonderful community event which provides the opportunity for our staff to gain a basic understanding of the range of issues around homelessness whilst giving something back to the something back to the community. We raised £500 that night for Simon On The Streets and collectively, the charity raised £22,000’

Gordon Lain, General Manager of Simon On The Streets, said ‘Hudgells have been extremely active in their support of us over the past 12 months and have really gone out of their way to make us feel valued. Their support has made a huge difference to us and our work with entrenched rough sleepers across West Yorkshire’

WLM Money Champions

Hudgell Solicitors are proudly supporting WLM’s Money Champions programme, a new programme all about equipping people with the skills and confidence they need to manage their money well. The program supports people to build their financial and emotional resilience so that they can cope better in times of difficulty and avoid problems getting worse. As well as learning for themselves, beneficiaries are encouraged to share their learnings with others spreading information and positive messages throughout their communities. Programs like WLM’s Money are important in helping to prevent homelessness, where problems with benefits and rent arrears are some of the most common causes of people losing their homes.

Hull Homeless Arts Project

Hudgell solicitors are partnering with a new Artlink project in Hull in which an experienced participatory visual artist will undertake a series of art activities with the service users of two homelessness organisations in Hull, the Hull Homeless Community Project and Westbourne House. This will provide regular constructive and creative activities during the day for homeless people in the city. The sessions will take place weekly over a seven-month period until early 2019 in Artlink’s workshop facilities. The goal of the project is the collaborative work of the participants on a series of artworks with the lead artist for a final exhibition in spring 2019 in Artlink’s gallery.
