Triple shortlisting at National Modern Claims Awards for Hudgell Solicitors

Hudgell Solicitors’ standing as one of the UK’s leading medical negligence and personal injury compensation specialists has been underlined with a triple shortlisting at the national 2016 Modern Claims Awards.

Hudgell Solicitors’ standing as one of the UK’s leading medical negligence and personal injury compensation specialists has been underlined with a triple shortlisting at the national 2016 Modern Claims Awards.

The firm has been named as a finalist in the Law Firm of the Year, Client Care, and Claims Professional of the Year categories.

It comes after the clinical negligence department were highly commended in the 2015 awards, and managing director Neil Hudgell feels being shortlisted in three categories a year on reflects the progress made at the business over the past 12 months.

A ‘fantastic achievement’

“It really is a fantastic achievement to be shortlisted in three categories at such a high-profile, national awards event, and is more evidence of how we are now recognised as being a national leader in our field,” said Mr Hudgell.

“It is obviously particularly pleasing to be finalists in the Law Firm of the Year category and for Client Care, as whilst it is recognition of the growth of the business over the past 12 months, it also importantly reflects the fact that customer service has always remained our highest priority throughout that period of expansion.

“We’re also delighted for Matt Tuff, from our growing London office, that he too has been shortlisted for his excellent work in handling many catastrophic injury claims involving serious, life-changing injuries.

“Matt has demonstrated great customer care, not only securing maximum compensation settlements, but also for working in a sympathetic and understanding manner when people are experiencing traumatic and difficult times.”

Firm enjoys London expansion

Judges noted Hudgell Solicitors’ continued development in London during their selection process to name finalists for the Law Firm of the Year category.

It follows a 12 month period in which the firm has further developed its presence in the capital, culminating in the recent purchase of new offices in Fleet Street, just minutes from The Royal Courts of Justice.

The London team has also added two of the country’s leading specialists to its ranks in Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp, a specialist in tackling complex cerebral palsy cases, claims involving children, failures in care of the elderly and spinal injury cases, and Amanda Stevens, who has a reputation as an eminent practitioner in both clinical negligence and personal injury.

Mr Tuff has settled notable claims over the past 12 months, including a seven figure settlement for a successful professional film industry stuntman whose career was effectively ended when injured on a film set.

Mr Tuff secured supporting statements from stunt men who had acted as doubles for Harrison Ford in the Indiana Jones films, for Christopher Reeve in the Superman films, and for Daniel Craig and Roger Moore as James Bond, as part of the case.

He also secured damages of £1.4m, and a full programme of rehabilitation support, for a client who suffered catastrophic brain injuries when a sports car he was a passenger in crashed at speed.

“We see the person, not just the claim”

Judges reflected on the firm’s delivery of its slogan, “We see the person, not just the claim” when considering the Client Care finalists.

That commitment to going the extra mile for clients has seen a new partnership developed with campaigning brain injury victim Paul Spence, who has become an official ambassador for the firm, providing one-to-one mentoring for clients who have suffered a brain injury.

As part of the partnership, Hudgell Solicitors has also helped Paul secure premises for a new community health facility for people with brain injuries, assisted him in securing official charity status for his charity, Paul For Brain Recovery, and helped him launch his own website.

The winners of the 2016 Modern Claims Awards will be announced at a black tie dinner at the New Dock Hall in Leeds, on Thursday, April 28.
