Hudgell Solicitors has won acclaim for its expertise and success in handling complicated, high-value clinical negligence claims.

Hudgell Solicitors has won acclaim for its expertise and success in handling complicated, high-value clinical negligence claims.

The Clinical Negligence team was highly commended for its work over the past 12 months at the Modern Claims Awards.

It came on the back of many impressive settlements over the past year, including a multi-million pound settlement in a cerebral palsy case, and numerous others in which six-figure damages were secured.

Managing director Neil Hudgell was delighted to see the firm recognised for its focus on offering a complete package of support to people who suffer life-changing injuries and illnesses.

“We have an excellent team of clinical negligence and personal injury specialists who are dedicated to providing the very best support to clients. It is very rewarding to see their work being recognised by others in the legal sector,” said Mr Hudgell.

“Our work is increasingly focussed around handling serious cases which often result in people suffering life-changing or life-limiting injuries. Importantly, our team is not only establishing a reputation for securing maximum compensation settlements, but also for working in a sympathetic and understanding manner when people are experiencing traumatic and difficult times in their lives.”

Judges, which included senior figures from every aspect of the claims industry, were impressed by the firm’s holistic approach to its work, focusing on offering much more than legal solutions and advice.

Neil Hudgell Solicitors has an established network of partners able to give high quality rehabilitation support to clients.

It is a member of The Brain Injury Group – a network of specialist brain injury solicitors and support services to help brain-injured people and their families, and Headway – a registered charity set up to give help and support to people affected by brain injury.

“Rehabilitation is at the heart of our work, and from the moment we start representing a client the focus is on ensuring our involvement helps them towards a better standard of living,” added Mr Hudgell.

“That of course means using our legal expertise to secure them the best possible financial settlement, but equally our work is focussed on supporting clients in their physical and mental recovery.”

Of the other notable cases considered by the judges was a settlement of £950,000 for a patient who was left severely disabled after delays in performing surgery on a spinal abscess. The man was sent home from two hospitals run by the same Trust on five separate occasions, over a 10 day period, despite suffering increasingly worsening back pain. By the time his condition was identified and treated he was virtually paraplegic.

Clinical negligence specialists at the firm consulted eight independent medical experts in a claim against the Trust, which brought about the final compensation settlement, and a full apology.

Rehabilitation treatment for the client at one of the UK’s leading clinics was also arranged as part of the package of care.
