Overturning convictions
We are immensely proud of the work we have done at Hudgell Solicitors to help victims of the Post Office Horizon Scandal clear their names and have their convictions overturned in Court.
Our legal team represented at a landmark case in April 2021 – the highest ever number of appellants to go to the Court of Appeal in one case – resulting in 39 long-standing convictions being overturned.
We have now helped more than 70 former Sub-postmasters clear their names.
There have been further successful appeals since in both the Court of Appeal and at Southwark Crown Court. We continue to present appeals on behalf of a number of wrongly convicted Sub-postmasters.
If you still have a conviction against your name related to the Post Office Horizon Scandal, and have not been acquitted, call our team today or email [email protected]
Securing justice for victims
The Post Office admitted there were 736 convictions of Sub-postmasters that were “Horizon intrinsic”. This means the vast majority of victims are still to secure justice, see their convictions overturned and potentially pursue compensation.
Our team have helped former Sub-postmasters gather evidence and submit their cases to the courts, resulting in convictions being quashed in the Crown Court and the Court of Appeal.
The prosecutions, due to the issues with the Horizon System, occurred between 2000 and 2015. If you were directly affected and prosecuted by the Post Office, we would advise you to contact our dedicated team and benefit from:
- Free legal advice to assess your claim and gather supporting evidence.
- A ‘no win, no fee’ promise.
- A straight-forward, established and proven process to refer your case to the courts.
- Direct support from other clients to help guide you through the process.
