Overturning convictions
We are immensely proud of the work we have done at Hudgell Solicitors to help victims of the Post Office Horizon Scandal clear their names and have their convictions overturned in Court.
Our legal team represented at a landmark case in April 2021 – at which the highest ever number of appellants went to the Court of Appeal in one case – resulting in 39 long-standing convictions being overturned.
We have since helped dozens more former sub-postmasters clear their names, both at the Court of Appeal and at Southwark Crown Court.
If you still have a conviction against your name related to the Post Office Horizon Scandal, and have not been acquitted, you should contact our team, as your conviction should be overturned as part of The Post Office (Horizon System) Offences Act, which was introduced in May 2024.
You will also be entitled to compensation through the Horizon Convictions Redress Scheme (HCRS), which our specialist team can assist you with.

Securing justice for victims
The Post Office admitted there were hundreds of convictions of sub-postmasters based on the evidence of the unreliable Horizon system.
The prosecutions, due to the issues with the Horizon System, occurred between 2000 and 2015.
We are now supporting
- those contacted by the Government requesting they provide more evidence in order to qualify for compensation.
- those contacted on behalf of relatives who were wrongfully convicted, and who have since died.
- those still not contacted (letters should be sent to all by the end of November 2024).
- relatives who believe their loved ones, who have since died, may have been prosecuted, but don’t have evidence to hand (our team can request details from the Post Office)
If you, or a loved one, were affected and prosecuted by the Post Office, and still have a conviction against your name, we would advise you to contact our dedicated team and benefit from:
- Free legal advice to assess your claim and gather supporting evidence.
- A straight-forward, established and proven process.
The Post Office will pay all reasonable legal costs incurred for our work and we will not take anything from your damages, you will keep 100% of the compensation you are awarded.
