Neil Hudgell Solicitors has completed two new deals for work with a total valuation of more than £1 million with Pictons Solicitors LLP and Gordons Solicitors LLP.
All the cases will be handled by the London office of Neil Hudgell Solicitors, national specialists in claims for medical negligence and personal injury.
Pictons has offices in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Neil Hudgell Solicitors has acquired the firm’s clinical negligence workbook.
The deal with Gordons Solicitors LLP, of Marlow in Buckinghamshire and Maidenhead in Berkshire, involved the transfer of the firm’s PI department and one senior lawyer.
Neil Hudgell, Managing Director of Neil Hudgell Solicitors, headquartered in Hull, said: “These latest acquisitions enable us to establish further our presence in the south, where we are rapidly expanding our business and taking on new clients. Our ongoing growth and success is a result of our business model, our prioritisation of customer care and our specialism in the niche areas of clinical negligence and personal injury.”
Following the Jackson Reforms, introduced last April, which radically altered the handling of claims for personal injury and medical negligence, both Pictons LLP and Gordons Solicitors LLP decided independently to review their business.
Sukh Saini, Pictons’ Managing Partner, said: “We are experiencing excellent growth in our commercial department and all of the other areas of the law in which we specialise. Although our clinical negligence department was very successful, the length of time that a case can take meant that we had to review whether we should continue to invest in this area of the law or focus our expertise on the other areas.
“We have informed all our clinical negligence clients and have been assured that those whose cases are being transferred will continue to receive a high level of care, attention and expertise from Neil Hudgell Solicitors, highly respected and well established clinical negligence specialists.”
Keith Gordon, Founder and Managing Partner of Gordons Solicitors LLP, said: “Our personal injury department, while making a real contribution to our turnover and profit, has always been marginal in the context of the corporate, commercial and litigation work we carry out at Marlow. At Maidenhead we are one of the largest providers of commoditised remortgaging and conveyancing services in the country. Following a strategic review and the advent of the Jackson Reforms, we felt that our resources should be concentrated around our core strengths, and accordingly we are delighted that an agreement was reached with Neil Hudgell Solicitors. The transfer of work has been extremely smooth and we believe it’s in the best interests of our clients that a specialist firm such as Neil Hudgell Solicitors has taken on their claims. The relocation of our head of PI Sally Fromont to the London office of Neil Hudgell Solicitors will also ensure continuity for clients.”
In 2011 Neil Hudgell Solicitors launched www.webuyanyfiles.com, a venture which offers lawyers, insolvency practitioners, accountants and other professionals an efficient and confidential way to sell legal practices and cases. To date, including these latest acquisitions, Neil Hudgell Solicitors has completed 23 deals totalling over £5 million.
Neil Hudgell established his legal practice in Hull in 1997 and it now employs over 110 staff in London, Leeds and Hull.
