Neil Hudgell Solicitors has bought a large caseload from Manchester-based Apple Legal Solicitors for a six figure sum.
The deal is the third major acquisition this year for Neil Hudgell Solicitors, personal injury and medical negligence claims specialists serving clients throughout England and Wales from offices in Leeds, Hull and Solihull. Under the deal, Apple Legal’s Road Traffic Accident claims practice will transfer to Neil Hudgell Solicitors.
Neil Hudgell, managing director of Neil Hudgell Solicitors, said: “Taking on this new caseload is part of our on-going strategy to grow our business by 100% by 2014, both organically and through acquisition. “We are always open to new opportunities and welcome approaches from other practitioners wishing to sell cases, caseloads and practices. “The changes underway at present in the legal profession have led many practitioners to weigh up their options and decide to exit the industry. “However, thanks to the business model we have developed, our expertise in niche areas and our commitment to customer care, we are confident that we will continue to develop and expand our business.”
Adam Tulk, partner at Apple Legal Solicitors, based on Manchester’s Hardman Street, said: “Apple Legal has decided to sell its RTA practice to Neil Hudgell Solicitors as a result of new challenges in the field of personal injury law.” Neil Hudgell Solicitors’ growth comes as the provision of legal services in England and Wales is altering radically with the introduction of Alternative Business Structures – ABS. This means that the ownership of legal service providers, previously restricted to lawyers, is open to anyone deemed “fit or proper”. In addition, the full impact of the recommendations put forward by Lord Justice Jackson in his report on Civil Litigation Costs is still being assessed across the legal industry.
The Apple Legal acquisition is the latest expansion for Neil Hudgell Solicitors. In recent months, the business also acquired a caseload from Solihull-based Forum Law in a deal worth over £1 million, personal injury files from North Yorkshire-based Williamson Hill and the personal injury and clinical negligence caseload from former Peterborough-based Carters Solicitors.
During 2011 Neil Hudgell Solicitors bought three other practices outright. Neil Hudgell Solicitors is interested in talking in confidence to any firm wishing to sell individual files, caseloads or the entire practice and also to firms which may wish to partner with the firm.
