Hudgell Solicitors is donating £2,500 to Hull amateur youth football club, Costello FC to support the building of a new clubhouse at Wold School. As well as changing facilities, the clubhouse will also have a café area for members.
Costello FC was formed by a group of volunteers in 2000 and had a team of 15 children. Today the club has around 400 members, aged from five upwards.
In severe flooding in Hull in 2007, the previous clubhouse at the school was badly damaged and later had to be demolished. As a result, since the floods, Costello FC has had no changing facilities for its players.
In 2009, a campaign was started to raise £50,000 to cash match with the football foundation for a replacement clubhouse. The fund-raising has included several sponsored runs and the donation from Hudgell Solicitors will contribute to the fund.
Kerry Johnson, Secretary at Costello FC, said: “We are delighted to be given funding from Hudgell Solicitors which will help us to build our new clubhouse. The new building is of great importance to the dignity and wellbeing of the children providing them with changing facilities and a café. As well as creating social hub, the club will be able to generate income from the café which will help to sustain the club.”
Hudgell, managing director of Neil Hudgell Solicitors, said: “We are proud to help fund the building of Costello FC’s new clubhouse which is such a vital facility. Our firm has its roots in its community and is dedicated to supporting local sport initiatives like Costello FC which is run entirely by volunteers and gives so much to its members.”
