Hudgell Solicitors is confident of further strengthening its position in the north as a leader in personal injury and medical negligence after completing a move into new premises in the heart of the Leeds legal district.
The move comes in the same year the firm purchased new premises in London’s Fleet Street, where a number of high-profile appointments of specialists have helped grow the business in the capital.
Hudgell Solicitors has had a presence in Leeds since 2010, when it opened as the secondary office to the firm’s headquarters in Hull, East Yorkshire, with just six members of staff.
Now serving clients across the country and with a team of more than 30 legal experts, the Leeds office is placing an ever-increasing focus on providing rehabilitation-led compensation claims for people who suffer serious and life changing injuries.
Handling serious injury and medical negligence compensation claims in Leeds
Group Head of Operations Michelle Maltby says it has been a significant year for the business, with the purchase of the new £750,000 offices in Park Place, which are set over four floors, an indication of the firm’s commitment to the region as it continues to enhance its national reputation.
“Having a presence in Leeds has proved very beneficial for the business and it has grown substantially in recent years,” said Mrs Maltby.
“Our team in Leeds are now regularly handling personal injury and medical negligence claims with values of six-and seven figures, reflecting the serious nature of the cases our team takes on, and the need for dedicated, experienced solicitors in the region who have track records of successfully representing their clients.
“Alongside our long-established headquarters in Hull, having a growing presence in Leeds has helped us establish a really strong reputation and to cement our position in the north of England as a leader in personal injury and medical negligence.
“We are fully confident that this extra investment and commitment in Leeds will only strengthen our position in those terms, and that we can continue to grow our service and client base.”
Hudgell Solicitors’ Leeds specialists win national recognition for work
Hudgell Solicitors has secured increasing national recognition in recent years for its success in securing high settlements for clients and ensuring rehabilitation is at the heart of the packages of support provided to clients.
Medical negligence specialist Caroline Murgatroyd, who has been based in the Leeds practice since its launch, was recently shortlisted in the ‘Rising Star’ category of the Yorkshire Legal Awards, for which winners will be announced in October.
Senior Solicitor Samuel McFadyen, a specialist in personal injury representation, has also won recognition for his work in handling a case which has ensured a decade of support has been provided to a family left devastated by a road traffic accident in 2005, which tragically caused the death of a 29-year-old mother-of-three, and her six-year-old daughter.
The accident also caused the family’s 15-month-old baby boy to suffer a serious brain injury, leaving his father having to give up work to care for both his baby and his other four-year-old son, who was not involved in the accident.
Judges in the national Rehabilitation First Awards were impressed by an ongoing package of financial, physical, psychological and personal support provided to the family over the subsequent years. The case has resulted in the firm being a shortlisted finalist at the awards.
In April, another solicitor, personal injury specialist Matt Tuff, was named Claims Professional of the Year at the national Modern Claims Awards, recognising his many successes in securing substantial settlements for clients in complex personal injury cases.
