THERE were plenty of slips and trips – but thankfully no injuries – as a team of ‘stars’ from Neil Hudgell Solicitors took part in a charity event to raise funds for a local hospice.
The 10-strong team tackled a giant inflatable covered in soap suds as they took part in Dove House Hospice’s ‘It’s A Knockout’ event.
Based on the popular 1960s television show, a number of teams from local businesses went head to head, with each team contributing £100 to enter and pledging to raise at least £500 through sponsorship.
Neil Hudgell Solicitors took part for the second consecutive year, and although we are still to taste success and be declared champions, marketing manager Susan Hogan said a great day was had by all, with the Hospice hoping to have raised around £12,000 from the event.
“They say it’s not about winning, just taking part, and that is was exactly the case for this event, which was absolutely brilliant fun in aid of a wonderful cause,” she said.
“Our team found themselves slipping and sliding all over the place when faced with the inflatable course which was covered in soap suds, but everybody’s jaws were aching by the end of the day from laughing and smiling and just having great fun.
“We are delighted to support Dove House Hospice and we expect our sponsorship to top £500, although we of course would still like more donations to come in.”
Dove House Hospice provides specialist palliative care to adults with life-limiting illnesses.
It costs £6.5 million a year to run the hospice, with funding only provided for 42 of 365 days.
The remaining 323 days are funded through the generosity of the local community, a full calendar of events, corporate support and more.
