NEIL Hudgell Solicitors has been delighted to today announce that we are increasing our community Trust fund to £100,000 a year. The money will enable us to build on the success enjoyed over our first two years.
The Neil Hudgell Solicitors Trust aims to leave a lasting legacy across the region by funding projects which support grass roots sport, raise educational aspiration and bring both the young and old together. Since its launch two years ago, it has already supported more than 120 groups and projects, handing out donations of up to £1,000 from a £60,000 annual fund.
However, having being overwhelmed by the impact already made, and the passion of many volunteers to strengthen local communities and make a positive impact, we are now increasing the annual Trust fund to £100,000 – with individual grants of up to £2,500 available every three months.
Jo Hudgell, chair of the Trust, is hopeful the extra money will help groups make a longer-term impact with their work, She said: “We have had no hesitation in raising the amount of money we are putting back into the community as it is a hugely rewarding experience. “When we launched two years ago, our aim was simple, to give something back. Our small grants have done that, but it is the many passionate people in communities who go the extra mile for others that make the biggest difference and impact. We have met so many wonderful groups and people, and this will just ensure we can support more.
“We also hope this extra funding will enable many groups to deliver projects which are truly sustainable in their communities, as the extra resource will allow them to make a greater impact.” Managing director Mr Hudgell said: “The Trust is all about supporting people in communities across Yorkshire, particularly in Hull and the East Riding, as the people in this region were key to helping our business become the success it is today. “Given that support, it is wonderful to now see our money having such a positive impact in local communities across the region. “We have seen first-hand how we have made a difference and helped to improve lives. It has given myself and my wife Jo an immense feeling of pride. From day one it has been a hugely rewarding initiative for all involved, and we are sure many more will benefit now that we have increased the funds available.”
The increase in funding was announced at a special event today, held in the Freedom Centre, Preston Road, to celebrate the second anniversary of the Trust. Members of more than 40 groups supported already were in attendance, with a select number speaking about the difference the Trust’s support had made.
It was also revealed that the Trust will now consider handing out ‘discretionary’ awards for people who are deemed worthy of support, but don’t strictly meet the full criteria.
