Lawyers considering their long-term futures in the claims market are being urged to secure their…
Neil Hudgell established his own law practice on September 1, 1997, having been offered the opportunity to take over three offices at the firm where he was employed, after it ran into difficult times.
It was an opportunity he took on instinct – an approach which has served him well over the past two decades – growing the business from a local company operating in all areas of law to establishing a reputation as leading personal injury and medical negligence specialists, representing thousands of clients across the UK.
Today we are a specialist law firm that is proud to be ‘righting wrongs’ for our clients. Our collaborative practice brings together legal teams dealing with medical negligence, personal injury, catastrophic injuries, brain and spinal injury, road traffic accidents, civil liberties, accidents at work, criminal injuries, abuse claims and travel litigation.
The legal world is now a very different place to when I first set up shop on 1st September 1997 and so is this law practice. We started as a local firm and are now a leading specialist litigation practice, representing thousands of clients across England and Wales.
From day one I was of the mind-set that my firm was going to be client led. You have to ask, what extra you are giving to your clients? At the end of the day, clients can easily find someone else who knows the law. What they want is someone to care about their case and situation, care about looking after their needs and give them the best possible service.
Despite the many changes we have experienced over the years within the legal sector, and although the industry is more challenging than in any of the 20 years previous we continue to thrive and still put the customer at the heart of our business.
The challenge now is to maintain the firms position and strength in the years to come which is why it has been so important to look at new ways of working, to introduce greater efficiencies into the legal process whilst improving customer service and developing new areas of work.
“Stand still and you’ll go backwards. That is my strongest message. We must keep moving forward.”
At Hudgell Solicitors we believe in doing the right thing by our clients and by the communities we serve. Staff love to fundraise, whether it is a bake sale or running a marathon for a local or national cause. Members of the team get involved throughout the year to help raise money for worthy causes.
We not only care, but we also respond to matters that will make a positive contribution to the places where we live and work.
The firms anniversary has provided a time for reflection and an opportunity to evolve its focus in the work it does for others and in doing so have been involved in projects tackling homelessness in London, Leeds and Hull.
The Trust supports The Hull Homeless Community Project, Simon on the Streets in Leeds, and The West London Mission and provides ongoing support through both funding and taking part in events and campaigns.
Hudgell Solicitors are proud to support a range of community partners and projects with the aim of making a genuine difference in the communities we reside. Since the launch of the Neil Hudgell Trust in 2012, we have been delighted to have donated close to £500, 000 to charitable organisations across Yorkshire and London.
In October 2017 the Neil Hudgell trust launched “Elephant in the room” campaign, to combat the social inequality of homelessness. As part of that project the Neil Hudgell Trust continues to support several charities tackling homelessness including Hull Homeless Community Project, Simon on The Street and West London Mission with Hudgell Solicitors staff regularly volunteering their time to support the most vulnerable.
We work alongside and support local grass roots sports team, community clubs, charities and individuals and are proud to invest back into local life to inspire positive change.
