Hudgell Solicitors’ lawyer Sean Gordon has won national recognition for his work by securing a finalist spot in the Modern Law Awards.
Sean Gordon has played a pivotal role in the ongoing success and continued growth of the firm over the past two years.
His work has seen him shortlisted for Compliance Officer of the Year award, for which the winner will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at The London Hilton, on Wednesday, October 15.
Mr Gordon, who has been with the company for nearly six years, was nominated for establishing a culture of compliance in all of our offices across the UK.
The role of the Compliance Officer has become increasingly important within UK law firms, particularly in the personal injury sector, following the introduction of tough regulatory requirements in recent times.
Judges sought candidates who could demonstrate an outstanding contribution to embracing the new regulatory framework of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) through legal practice, and who had implemented a culture of compliance throughout their firm.
Having led the development of a bespoke case management system, Mr Gordon has made compliance simple for all solicitors at our company.
Greatly reducing the chance of errors, the system automatically generates all relevant paperwork when any new case is opened, and then ensures from that point onwards that all key future points of action in the case are scheduled into the solicitors’ own work calendar.
He also led the firm towards achieving and retaining Lexcel accreditation, for which a practice must go through a rigorous initial testing and then annual inspections.
Mr Gordon said he was delighted to be one of the three finalists in the category.
“It is wonderful to be recognised and shortlisted as a finalist for what has already become a highly respected awards event for the legal industry,” said Mr Gordon.
“Compliance may not be the most exciting area of a legal firm’s work, but it is crucial to the efficiency and success of a legal practice. Thankfully, we have a team at Neil Hudgell Solicitors who are dedicated to ensuring we not only meet the expectations of the SRA, but exceed them at all times.”
Managing director Neil Hudgell said: “Sean fully deserves this recognition for the excellent work he does.
“As a business we have grown significantly over the past two years, taking on an extra 6,000 clients as we have continued to buy personal injury cases from other firms. During this time he has ensured efficiencies have run throughout the business in a way which ensures we meet all regulations, whilst allowing our legal experts to focus on the job in hand.”
Mr Gordon is a finalist alongside Gareth Richards, of Convey Law, and Shirley Rothel, of Just Costs Solicitors, with the winner being chosen by a cross-industry panel of high-profile judges.
Launched in 2013, the Eclipse Proclaim Modern Law Awards celebrate and identify the best talent and success in entrepreneurship, market development, business management and best practice in the modern legal services arena.
